Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton receives a positive injury update ahead of the Broncos’ Week 5 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

When Courtland Sutton rolled his ankle at a Friday practice for the Broncos, it was a concerning development for the fourth-year wide receiver.

But Broncos fans and fantasy manager can rest easy this week: it looks like Sutton will be playing in Pittsburgh against the Steelers after all.

I think #BroncosCountry can breathe a sigh of relief…

Per NFL Source with knowledge of Courtland Sutton’s injury classifies it as “minor” ankle sprain and the expectation is Sutton will play Sunday in Pittsburgh.@KOAColorado

Courtland Sutton expected to play in Week 5 against the Steelers

On Friday afternoon, Sutton was listed on the weekly injury report as “Questionable.”

FantastyPros describes why the Sutton injury is such a concern for a Broncos team that is low on wide receiver depth.

“Sutton is the latest Denver wideout to be dealing with an injury. With Jerry Jeudy on IR and KJ Hamler done for the year, this is more bad news for an already decimated receiving core.”

Sutton joins the 2021 season coming off of a devastating ACL injury suffered in Week 2 of 2020. It was a tragic development to a breakout 2019 season.

“Sutton finished 2019 with 1,112 receiving yards, nearly double any other player on the roster, and was named to the Pro Bowl,” wrote James Palmer for NFL.com. “Sutton had more receiving yards and receiving touchdowns than any player in Broncos history through his first two seasons.”

Sutton has played in all four games thus far in 2021, although he hasn’t fully followed up on his 2019 performance. His best game this season was in the Broncos’ Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars when Sutton caught nine of 12 targets for 159 yards. With wide receiver K.J. Hamler on IR, the Broncos are thin at receiver heading into a matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
