Cowboys on track go get another key player back from injury

After completely no-showing against the Broncos, the Dallas Cowboys emphatically rebounded against the Falcons in Week 10 with a blowout 40-point win that moved the club to 7-2 on the season and firmly in the mix atop the NFC.

In the win over Atlanta, Dallas saw the much-welcomed return of wide receiver Michael Gallup.

Left tackle Tyron Smith, who hadn’t practiced since Oct. 29, was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday.

While that doesn’t guarantee his return for Week 11 against the Chiefs, it’s a great sign that he’s close to getting back on the field and giving the team one of the best bookends in the league.

Are the Dallas Cowboys favorites in the NFC?

What’s scary about Dallas when you consider someone like Smith coming back into the fold is that they are 7-2, rolling against most teams, and have the opportunity to get substantially better down the stretch.

Gallup is back and Smith is getting closer to returning, if he’s not already there. But also coming back to the roster soon are defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence and defensive tackle Neville Gallimore, though their timetables still have them a few weeks away from rejoining the active roster.

On top of that, there’s a good chance that another defensive end, Randy Gregory, will be back in the fold before the playoffs begin as well.

With Dak Prescott, the complement of weapons, and a defense that has improved tremendously under Dan Quinn, the Cowboys already looked like contenders.
