Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell broke town in tears talking about his team after a heartbreaking loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
You’ve just got to feel for the Detroit Lions right now. Entering the Week 5 showdown with the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit had an 0-4 record, but they were hungry to finally record its first win of the season.
While things looked bleak in the second half, Detroit took a late lead thanks to a seven-yard touchdown run by D’Andre Swift, which was followed by a two-point conversion to put the Lions up 17-16. That was the score with 37 seconds left. Minnesota ended up winning somehow and head coach Dan Campbell was brought to tears talking about it. Simply brutal.

Campbell’s reaction here is tough to watch for the Detroit faithful. You can see clearly how much he loves his players, but at the same time how difficult it was for him to watch the Vikings leave the field with the thrilling win.
It sure looked like Detroit had this one in the bag after the Swift touchdown and two-point conversion. Then, everything was for nought, at Greg Joseph blasted a 54-yard field goal through the uprights to give Minnesota the victory in walk-off fashion.
Minnesota was able to go on a five-play, 46-yard drive in the short amount of time to set up Joseph’s heroics. As you might have been able to guess, the home fans at U.S. Bank Stadium went nuts, but the Detroit sideline couldn’t believe what hat happened.
For Campbell, it’s back to the drawing board to try and earn his first win of the season with the Lions. This loss will surely haunt him for quite some time, though.
