Odell Beckham Jr. free agency decision still ‘a few days away’

While Odell Beckham Jr. has cleared waivers and is available to sign with a new NFL team, the wide receiver is “going to take some time” to choose a team.

O(dell), wherefore art thou?

The NFL world is buzzing with where Odell Beckham Jr. will land next as the play-making wide receiver has his pick on the market.

Teams that are reportedly interested in signing OBJ include the Green Bay Packers, the New England Patriots, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Seattle Seahawks and the New Orleans Saints. As of Nov. 10, Beckham Jr. has reportedly narrowed down the choices to the Chiefs, Packers and Saints.

Each of these three final teams are believed to have a decent chance at making playoffs, and signing a receiver like Beckham Jr. would boost any one of these offensive lineups.

But it’s a big decision, and after feeling spurned by the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns, Beckham Jr. has to go somewhere where he will feel properly utilized and appreciated.

It’s no surprise, then, that Beckham Jr.’s decision is “going to take some time” and is “a few days away”, per Kim Jones and Ian Rapoport.

From @RapSheet & me: Indications are that Odell Beckham Jr. is “going to take some time” to decide on his next team and that decision is “a few days away.” So, stay tuned.

Odell Beckham Jr. decision remains “a few days away” as NFL waits to see where he lands

NFL reporters are continuously reporting where Beckham Jr. is interested in going, although there is no clear indication yet that he prefers one team to another.

As of Nov. 9, OBJ and his team has spoken with the Patriots, Chiefs and Saints, which has each of these fanbases excited with the prospect of signing him.

The Patriots have virtually no wide receivers, especially after the retirement of Julian Edelman in the offseason. And coach Bill Belichick is known to take in wide receivers perceived as troublemakers and turn them into stars — one only need look at the historic 2007 season featuring Tom Brady and Randy Moss.

But Chiefs fans believe there’s a case to be made for a Kansas City landing, too. Patrick Mahomes does have Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, but having Beckham Jr. line up to make crucial catches could save the Chiefs in their more challenging matchups where first downs are critical.

Of course, the most emotional plea is from Saints fans, who believe Beckham Jr. should return to his New Orleans roots. A lifelong Louisiana native who became a  star at LSU, it’s hard to argue with the chance to come home and play for his childhood team.

As fans wait for OBJ to land somewhere, reports, rumors and rumblings will continue to circulate — but all the NFL world can really do is wait to see where he actually goes.
