The Dallas Cowboys unofficial team depth chart for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game

The Dallas Cowboys will play a football game on Thursday. Sure, just preseason, but still a game. It will mark the first bit of football action for America’s Team since their season ended at the hands of the New York Giants, although the season really ended during the first contest against the G-Men in 2020 when Dak Prescott was injured.

It is important to keep proper context with this week’s contest as it is only the Pro Football Hall of Fame game which precedes the rest of the preseason for the league as a whole. It is unlikely that we see notable players play much, if at all, and Mike McCarthy confirmed on Tuesday that Prescott will not play.

Still, though, we will be able to discern some things about this team. Speaking of things that we can draft takeaways from, the Cowboys released their unofficial depth chart ahead of the game. Feast your eyes on it.

There is nothing too shocking about this depth chart although it does list Blake Jarwin ahead of Dalton Schultz at tight end for those who are tracking that battle. Some other interesting notes include Brandon Knight being listed as a second-string guard, confirming his shift to the interior. To no one’s surprise Garrett Gilbert is your QB2.

Neville Gallimore and Carlos Watkins are the starting defensive tackles on the depth chart, with pet cat Quinton Bohanna all the way back on the fourth string. Jaylon Smith is still the MIKE, surrounded by Leighton Vander Esch and Micah Parsons. Anthony Brown pairs with Trevon Diggs on the outside while Jourdan Lewis mans the slot.

Again, it is very unlikely that we will see much of the starters in this particular contest. Thursday night will be an opportunity for down-the-roster players to make their mark.

What is your biggest takeaway from the first unofficial depth chart of the season?
