The original plan for the fourth film in the Hotel Transylvania franchise was for the final film in the hit franchise to open in theaters on Oct. 1, 2021. Out of an abundance of caution, though, Sony Pictures Animation announced in August that it would be skipping a theatrical release for the film and would instead look to find a streaming home for the film to release exclusively on.

With the decision made to pull the film’s theatrical release, Sony Pictures Animation looked to streaming services as its alternative release destination for the film. After exploring its options, it was reported by Variety that the studio was in final negotiations to release the film exclusively on Amazon Prime on Oct. 1.

While it does look like Amazon will become home to Hotel Transylvania, no official deal has been finalized which has created some confusion among fans looking to Amazon Prime to watch the film with their families this weekend.

So when exactly does Hotel Transylvania 4 come out? Well, that’s the big mystery at the moment. While all reports seem to suggest the film was set to release on Amazon Prime on Oct. 1, the film has yet to arrive on the streaming platform.

Interestingly, the official Twitter account for the film still reports an Oct. 1 release date as well, but with the un-updated information touting a theatrical release for the film. Considering Oct. 1 has arrived and the film has not yet opened in theaters or on Amazon Prime, the release date remains unclear at this time.

When is Hotel Transylvania 4 coming to Amazon?

Should Sony Pictures Animation follow through with its deal to bring the film to Amazon Prime, we have to imagine the studio and streaming platform will look to get the film out sometime this October.

Given it was originally reported Hotel Transylvania 4 would debut on Oct. 1 and the film has not yet arrived, it’s looking like the earliest we could see the fourth Hotel Transylvania film arrive on Amazon Prime would be Friday, Oct. 8, 2021.
